Microfiber Cloth is recommended
The most common issue with blinds is dust, which is difficult to wipe with just any old towel. To keep the blinds clean and dust-free, use a microfiber cloth. This manner, you'll ensure that all dust is removed and that the area is thoroughly cleaned.
Don't panic if you don't have a microfiber cloth on hand. An old sock (as long as it's clean!) will suffice. and it will essentially accomplish the same thing. Simply put it on your hand, dampen it slightly, and begin to work.
Is it time to clean your blinds?
Blinds usually only need cleaning once in a while, but if they're in a high-traffic area, such as the kitchen or next to a storefront entrance, they can collect a lot of dust and filth that's difficult to remove. If you notice apparent build-up in your blinds, don't put off cleaning them!
Remove the blinds and soak them in a tub of warm water with dishwashing detergent and baking soda for a thorough cleaning. Remove the blinds from the water once you've determined that the dirt and grime will come off easily. All you have to do now is clean them, wipe them down, and reinstall them.
What Happens If Your Blinds Become Stuck?
If any of your blinds become stuck, thoroughly examine them to ensure that they are correctly positioned on the window frame. If you're certain that's not the problem, there's a simple method that will make them glide open and shut like butter.
Apply silicone spray to the headrail or any other area that the blinds are meant to glide through to function properly. This will eliminate any friction and restore proper operation of your blinds.
Have your white blinds started to fade?
If your white blinds aren't quite as white as they once were, the sun has most likely discolored them. This may appear to be an intractable challenge, but you'd be surprised!
Fill a tub with cold water and three cups of bleach. To return your blinds to their older, gleaming white state, just soak them in water for 10 minutes (and no longer).
Avoid getting your wooden blinds wet.
Wooden blinds are not the same as blinds made of aluminum or fabric, and while it's fine to get little water on those blinds, avoid getting your wooden blinds wet. The best approach to keep wooden blinds clean is to dust them on a regular basis and to use a wood cleaner when necessary. Keep your damp microfiber towel (or sock) in your hand, and your wooden spoon damp.
